A Pharaoh was a semi-divine ruler in ancient Egypt, who guaranteed the unity of the civilization, which was governed based on a system of religious beliefs in a succession of dynasties. The term Pharaoh, of biblical origin, is synonymous with the king. After the reign of Hatshepsut, casa grande, in the strict sense, was the term meaning Pharaoh, a time known as the New Kingdom (c.1550 BCE – 1070 BCE).
